Jharkhand DGP reviews security measures ahead of Kurmi agitation “Rail Teka, Dahar Cheka”

Jharkhand Director General of Police Anurag Gupta chaired a meeting at the Police Headquarters in Ranchi to review law and order ahead of the Kurmi community’s agitation on 20 September, titled “Rail Teka, Dahar Cheka” (Stop the Railways, Block the Roads). Senior officials from the RPF, railways, and police attended the meeting via video conferencing.

Anurag Gupta directed all district police chiefs to maintain security during the agitation. He emphasised special vigilance at railway stations and lines in Hazaribagh, Ramgarh, Koderma, Giridih, Bokaro, Saraikela, Chaibasa, Palamu, and Dumka. Security measures include deploying police personnel with body protectors and helmets, installing CCTV cameras outside stations, coordinating with the RPF and GRP, and ensuring passenger safety.

He also instructed coordination with district magistrates for deployment at stations, implementation of Section 163 actions under BNSS, crowd management, preventing stone-pelting on trains, and arranging barricading and drone monitoring. Arrangements for accommodation and food for deployed forces were included.

All railway police officers were directed to keep control rooms operational 24×7, with monitoring by regional police commissioners and deputy commissioners. Senior officials, including Amol Vinukant Homkar, IG Rail, Prabhat Kumar, IG Special Branch, Michaelraj S, IG Operations, and DRM officials from Ranchi, Chakradharpur, and Dhanbad, participated in the meeting.

The police administration said it will maintain law and order and ensure safe travel during the agitation.
